Tell Your Child(ren) That:
  • Although "chat rooms" may discuss interesting subjects, some invite adults-only dialogue between people who may be using false identities.

  • It is unwise for anyone to "chat" before he/she understands the subject of the discussion.

  • Your child(ren) should never provide personal information such as name, address, phone number, school name, credit card number or password to anyone online.

  • Your child(ren) must bring an adult along when meeting an online friend in person.

  • Some sites may be trying to sell your child(ren) something.

  • Your child(ren) must share their Internet experiences with you and report to you any experiences that made them uncomfortable.
