What You Can Do:
- Explore the "Web" with your child and point out appropriate sites.
- Identify subjects or sites he/she should not visit and explain why.
- Consider limiting online time, as you limit time watching TV.

|
Tell Your Child(ren) That:
- Although "chat rooms" may discuss interesting subjects, some invite adults-only dialogue between people who may be using false identities.
- It is unwise for anyone to "chat" before he/she understands the subject of the discussion.
- Your child(ren) should never provide personal information such as name, address, phone number, school name, credit card number or password to anyone online.
- Your child(ren) must bring an adult along when meeting an online friend in person.
- Some sites may be trying to sell your child(ren) something.
- Your child(ren) must share their Internet experiences with you and report to you any experiences that made them uncomfortable.
