Silicon Valley Information Center (SVIC) Collection: Introduction

The Silicon Valley Information Center Collection is made up of 713 boxes of materials related to companies functioning in Silicon Valley between 1986 and 1993. The materials were donated to the San Jose Public Library by the companies in response to requests made to them by Library representatives.

These boxes, arranged roughly alphabetically, contain a variety of kinds of materials. Typical company boxes may include copies of any of the following:

Securities and Exchange Commission-required forms, advertising proofs, annual meeting notices, annual reports, backgrounders, brochures, catalogs, company histories, employee publications, employment information, executive biographies, executive speeches, financial analyst reports, flyers, legal statements and opinions, newsletters, press releases and reprints, photographs, price lists, product literature, prospectuses, quarterly reports, shareholder letters, technical papers and white papers.

In addition to archiving and preserving this collection, the library provides an online index to its contents, which are held in the California Room
