The California Room has an extensive collection of historic San José street maps dating back to 1872. The map collection also includes historic maps of Santa Clara County and street maps of individual cities within Santa Clara County. The collection also includes some old street and road maps for San Francisco and other cities in the San Francisco/Monterey Bay Areas, but coverage is not as extensive as it is for San José and Santa Clara County.

In addition to the street maps, there is also a small collection of geologic, earthquake, planning, and land use maps for San José and Santa Clara County.
