Educational Resource Center
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library Educational Resource
Center, located on the fourth floor, is a
place and a gateway that provides information and resources for
students, educators, professors, parents, and all others interested
in K-12 education in Silicon Valley.
The ERC contains the following collections:
Award Winning Books - award winning children's book
(both fiction and nonfiction). These include many different award
winners, not just the Newbery and Caldecott winners that most people
are already familiar with.
Big Books - oversize copies of children's books, often classics.
California Textbooks -
includes textbooks adopted by the state of California for use in classrooms;
also includes some supplementary materials. These materials have a
1 week loan period and may not be placed on hold. Faculty and grad
students may check them out for longer loan periods. Older textbooks
and those no longer adopted are located in the lower level of the
King Library.
Curriculum - includes professional development materials based on current
learning theory and research; also includes lesson planning materials for
practical application in classrooms.
Libraries and Learning - materials that focus specifically on information
literacy and school libraries.
