The object was to promote Santa Clara County as a great place to live and work, a place of "sunshine, fruit, and flowers." The text contains many facts, figures, and glowing descriptions of Santa Clara County. But its greatest strength are the many pictures and illustrations showing structures, farms, people and places throughout the county. It is the best source for showing what San José and Santa Clara County looked like in the late 19th century.
