Postcard Collection

The California Room has a small collection of historic postcards depicting scenes in San José, Santa Clara County, and California. Postcards became widely available at the beginning of the 20th century and were very popular over the next 20-30 years. Postcards often show buildings and landscapes difficult to find on photographs. Their most attractive feature is their use of color at a time when most photographs were taken only in black & white.
