Aerial Photographs of the Greater San José Area

The California Room has a collection of historical aerial photographs of the Greater San José Area. These black and white photographs measure 36 X 36 inches and were purchased from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The photographs cover a large area of central Santa Clara County within these approximate boundaries:

• Alviso south to Los Gatos
   
• Los Gatos east to the Calero Reservoir
   
• North from Calero Reservoir to Milpitas and the Alameda County Line
   
• West along the bay to Alviso
   

These photographs were taken on flights made during five separate time periods: 1931, 1948, 1960, 1968, and late 1980 to early 1981.
