2004 Savings by Design Award from PG&E The King Library received a $250,000 "Savings by Design" program award from PG&E for the building's outstanding design, environmental sensitivity, and innovative energy efficiency solutions. According to PG&E, the library's final energy savings came in at 1,511,100 kwh per year, well above California's Title 24 Energy Code requirements. Flack & Kurtz, mechanical and electrical engineering consultants, and Carrier Johnson Architects worked together to achieve the most efficient building design for the King Library within budget constraints. PG&E presented the check to SJSU's Don Kassing, Vice President of Administration and Finance, and San José Mayor Ron Gonzales at a ceremony held on April 29, 2004. | |
