The King Library received the 2004 Silver Anvil Award for its excellence in
strategic public relations planning and implementation. Awarded by the
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Silver Anvil Award is
considered by many to be the icon of best public relations practices.
Symbolizing the forging of public opinion, the Silver Anvil is annually
awarded to organizations who have successfully addressed a contemporary
issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness.
In over 50 years, more than 1000 organizations have been awarded the Silver
Anvil for excellence in public realtions. The 2004 finalists included
programs from top corporations, health care organizations, associations,
municipalities and the military, such as Amazon.com, Boeing, Eastman Kodak,
and Hewlett-Packard. The award was presented at the annual Silver Anvil
Awards Ceremony on June 3, 2004 at the Equitable Towers in New York City.
