Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan (Book) 5 stars!
Author: John Flanagan
This book is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's about a boy who was assigned to be a ranger's apprentice, and wanted to be a warrior. Then an old enemy of the kingdom's comes back and attacks, and it's up to him to save his kingdom. This may sound lame to several people, but the way it's told and planned out is wonderful. I can never get enough of this book, or the follow ups. It is absolutely, without question, the best book I have ever read. Definetly. (And I've read hundreds! I'm serious!)

Speak (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Laurie Halse Anderson
This book was phenomenal! It's about a girl named Melinda Sordino, and how after she got raped one summer, she dealt with her trauma. She chose to deal with her trauma by not speaking and just remaining silent. It is an incredibly powerful book and I absolutely loved it!

Pretty Little Devils (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Nancy Holder
When i finished reading the first chapter i thought this is where the movie "Mean Girls" came from. But i was Wrong, Its suspenseful, dramatic and so much more than the average high school drama. The ending is so much more different and even confusing than it seemed.

The Host (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Stephenie Meyer
OMG!!!!! I LOVE this book. In my opinion, it's the best book Stephenie Meyer wrote so far. It is about how our world gets taken over by alien souls in the future. There is this one soul in particular that gets "assigned" Melanie. He tells Wanderer (the soul) about Jared, the man Melanie loves. They both go to find him and on the adventure, Wanderer herself finds true love. I recommend this book to EVERYONE. It's a must read story. I'm sure everyone who likes stories about adventure and romance will LOVE this book. HAPPY READING!!!!!!!!!!

This is the 4th book in the Twilight saga. It's mostly a vampire love story, even though the events in this story are quite out of line. If you like stories about vampires, romance, etc. this book is for you!!!!!!!!!!!

So Wrong, It's Right (Music CD) 5 stars!
Author: All Time Low
This CD is one of my all time favorites! The band is kinda new, but their music is amazing. The guys are only 20 and 21 but their music is great! If you're a fan of Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, or Panic at the Disco, you'll love this band. Some standout tracks for me are "Remembering Sunday", "Shameless", and "Six Feet Under the Stars". I love every single song and I totally recommend buying or borrowing it =D

A girl named Bella moves to Forks, WA with her dad. She meets a boy named Edward, who is actually a vampire. This book has romance, suspense, horror, action. It was soooo good! I couldn't put it down. Seriously. The first book I've actually couldn't stop reading and really enjoyed the story. I read it in 2 days and now I'm dying, waiting to read the 3rd book. And the movie is coming out on Nov 21! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

The Amulet of Samarkand (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Jonathan Stroud
Don't you all just love it when people underestimate the main character, then all of a sudden, he/she does something stunning and everyone goes, "Whoaaa.." (Like in Mulan, right?) Well this book is pretty much like that. It's told from two different points of views, a 12 year old magician-in-training named Nathaniel, (I know, I don't like reading books about people that are younger than me either, but this Bartimaeus is at least 5,000, so don't worry!) and Bartimaeus, a 5,000 year old wisecracking djinni (It's pronounced Jinny) that uses footnotes for your reference. Nathaniel was looked down upon by his master and other magicians, so after being humiliated against high and mighty Simon Lovelace, he teaches himself magic wayyy beyond his years and summons Bartimaeus. Nathaniel has a plan to reveal Lovelace's evil side to Parliament so that he can get his revenge, and so begins the epic, witty adventure full of dark humor. It's a great book; I've read it at least 10 times, and I never get tired of it. Though I must warn you, can't say the same about the next book in the trilogy. But that's another story. So go on to your local library and check out The Amulet of Samarkand today! (Dah da duh! <-From reading rainbow, in case you didn't know)

Almost Alice (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Phyllis Naylor
I've only this summer been reading the Alice series. This book, the latest, is the best by far. Alice is in her Junior year in high school, facing the biggest problems she has ever had to face that include her stepmom, her ex-boyfriend and a friend's pregnancy. It's a great book. I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes books they can relate to.
-from Maria (August 20, 2008)
Breaking Dawn (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Stephenie Meyer
I really enjoyed this book on contrary to what people feel. It took a major twist (I can't say because then it will ruin the book!!) that many people did not like, and I honestly did not like either until I realized that there would really be no point of the book w/o the plot.
-from ViVi (August 8, 2008)

This Lullaby (Book) 4 stars
Author: Sarah Dessen
I liked this book a lot, its a book that has a meaning to it, not just another story when a girl meets a guy and they fall in love, blah blah, but this, is just something different. Remy thinks shes KNOWS EVERYTHING, really though she has lots to learn about love. And she learns it the hard way. Although its a long book, during the middle. I couldnt put the book down. I like this book a LOT!
-from Emily (August 6, 2008)
Honey, Baby, Sweetheart (Book) 4 stars
Author: Deb Caletti
This book is really good for those who are tired of always perfect endings. At first I hated that at the beginning this book was just another typical teenage love story, but then it got better. What I love is the details! When Ruby McQueen was mad or sad i felt it too. I'm glad this book got an award cause if it didnt id say it deserves one. I recommend reading it!
-from Emily (July 28, 2008)

Greatest Hits, Volume II: American Man (Music CD) 5 stars!
Author: Trace Adkins
I am a country kinda girl so this album really appealed to me. I love this album, because it has very upbeat country songs, like "Rough and Ready", and "Arlington" really hit home with its meaningful and solemn lyrics. I thought "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" was really funny and "Chrome" is my song, baby! "Ladies Love Country Boys" is a great and funny song, but when I saw the music video that Trace made, LOLROF! I love the way Trace Adkins sings, he has a southern boy drawl that is really cool! The whole album was really well put together with all my favorite songs and I dread the day I have to return it to the library. Kids who are country fanatics like myself will love this album, put people who hate country, steer clear!

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Book) 5 stars!
Author: C.S. Lewis
I read this book when I was in 1st grade and I still love it. Lucy Pevensie finds a wardrobe in an empty room of the house of an elderly professor. It fascinates her and she steps inside. She is amazed to find a whole new world called Narnia. However this land is in danger from a evil queen, the White Witch, who has imprisoned Narnia in a spell of always winter, never Christmas. Lucy, together with her three siblings, Peter, Edmund and Susan must save Narnia. It was written in the 50's so the writing style is quaint, but when you get used to it, it provides an extremly enjoyable read.

Wild Roses (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Deb Caletti
Wow this book was just so totally great, whether you're a music lover or not! It's about a young violinist, Ian, who falls in love with Cassie who has a deranged stepfather who tries to keep them apart. This story is so beautiful and I LOVE IT. You won't be able to put it down. It actually makes sense what the author says about music, and how fame can be really damaging. This story is very emotional.

Eclipse (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Stephenie Meyer
At first this book looked spooky and angry, because of the black color. As I read the first one, Twilight, I began hooked and then the second, New Moon. Then it was the third - the best one! I strongly urge you to read it, especially if you like romance and lovey dovey stuff with a lot of action. I promise you you will not be unsatisfied - unless you cannot wait for the fourth book. Like me!

One of my friends introduce me to this book and said its very terrific. This book is about a girl named Isabella Swan. She moved to this place called Forks. There she met this beautiful, vampire boy name Edward. Together, they fell in love and went through many wild, crazy adventures. There is more sequels which is New Moon, Eclipse, and the 4th sequal coming this fall - Breaking Dawn.

Circle the Soul Softly (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Davida Wills Hurwin
This book is not like any other book. It's about a girl who doesn't remember her life. No, wait, she remembers the stuff she should, like her mom, her brother, etc., but she spaces out a lot. Her dad died of cancer, and now her mom is getting remarried to this guy at least twenty years older than her. She finally establishes herself as "cool" when the memories come back, and they are very blurry. She's afraid of her boyfriend at times all of a sudden, and then he freaks out on her. Memories of her dad are there, and when she fits the puzzle pieces together, her mom is in denial. This story is amazing, and you just get so in it. I couldn't put it down.
-from V.V. at Miller Middle School / Calabazas Branch Library (February 15, 2008)
Dream Factory (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Brad Barkley & Heather Hepler
If I were to describe this book in one word, it would be "Whoa!" It's a romance with no plot to it. Okay, so there is a plot, but it's pretty vague. Luke S. Krause is this guy who works as Dale (as in Chip and Dale) at Disney World with his girlfriend, Cassie, who works as Chip. Cassie is perfect in every way: she's smart, cute, talented, and has her life planned out. Luke has a life planned out for him, but he doesn't want it. Ella, on the other hand, has no future planned out, and feels out of it. Ella works as Cinderella at Disney World, and has just lost her brother recently and been deserted by her parents. This story is amazing. You have to read it!

Princess Academy (Book) 4 stars
Author: Shannon Hale
I thought it was awesome! The only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because I thought the author maybe should have described the quarie talk or whatever. But all in all its a book worth reading!

The Changeover (Book) 5 stars!
Author: Margaret Mahy
Margaret Mahy's The Changeover is an enchanting mix of dangerous magic and sacrifices that grabs the reader's attention from the amusing beginning.

Unique from other books about magic, The Changeover isn't simply about a girl getting magic powers and using them. The novel tells the tale of the bond between siblings and how the best things can be right under your nose the whole time.

Mahy's gripping story executes a perfect combination of adventure and romance as she asks readers, "How far will you go to help a loved one?" Readers will fall in love with the inpulsive Laura Chant and the incomplete Sorry Carlisle in this utterly perfect novelette.

At school everyone knows her because her mother moved away to get away from Bella's father. She meets a boy nemaed Edward who seems to her to be made by the gods, he looks so amazing. Then she finds out all of the amazing people -- or things -- that are hidden in our world. I loved this book because it is captivating and you get very attached to all of the characters within the first three chapters. Author: J.K. Rowling
This is the last book in the series of Harry Potter. The book is about a young wizard on his quest to end an evil wizard's life. He and his three friends experience many perils in the name of the "greater good". This book is very well written and is a fast read for 780 pages. The book is enthralling, especially during the summer when you are very bored.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book) 5 stars!
Author: J.K. Rowling
This is the first book in the series about harry Potter, an eleven-year-old boy who finds out that he's a wizard. He goes to the wizarding school Hogwarts and the book tells of his adventures and you learn that it is never a happily ever after for Harry Potter. This book is the best one of the whole series because it really describes the magic, so that you can really feel the magic! It's better than the last book because in teh last book you get sad about some of the plot twists, though then you are happy again by the end of the book.

The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (Movie in Theaters) 4 stars
Author: Walden Media
"From the people who brought you The Chronicles of Narnia." -- that's what it says on the poster for The Water Horse:Legend of the Deep (PG) based on a book by the author of Babe. Not only is this better than the tale of the Wilbur-like outcast pig, but the visual effects are pure genius. While it's not as entertaining as its "From the people who brought..." would like you to believe, it's still an enchanting family psuedo-fantasy film about letting go of tragedies and the power of a friend. It's like the modern E.T.

The story begins when two teenagers come across a famous picture, at a museum, of the Loch Ness Monster. One wonders what it is. Another knows it's fake. "How do know that?" the inquiring girl asks. "Everyone knows, that," he responds. Then they meet an old man who tells the duo the story of Crusoe, a "water horse" found by a lonely boy in WWII Scotland, who befriends the fast-growing beast. It's an enchanting movie. I recommend it.
