The following international language collections can be found on the 3rd Floor of the King Library. Please call General Collections at (408) 808-2397 if you have any questions:

Books

There are approximately 58,000 books in fifty-eight languages in the collection, with major emphasis on Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese. Each collection is identified by a three-letter language code as the first part of the call number. International language books and media for children are housed in the Youth Services Department.

The ESL collection includes audio and video materials to teach English to the novice through to the conversant student wanting to improve their pronunciation skills; some materials are bilingual, others are in only English. TOEFL audio and video kits can also be found here. Books on the TOEFL examination are also available in the English-language section of General Collections.

Videos (VHS, DVD, VCD)

There are over 40 languages represented in this collection of entertainment videos and some educational videos. Many are also subtitled in English.

Music

This mostly modern pop and traditional collection of music is available largely in CD format. The largest collections are in Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese. There is also music from other major cultures including European, Asian/Pacific Islander, American Indian, Middle Eastern, and African languages.
