Giving Opportunities to Expand SJSU Library Special Collections

Browsing our collectionSSJSU Special Collections & Archives exists to acquire, preserve, arrange, describe, and make accessible its rich holdings of rare secondary and primary materials to support the diverse teaching and research needs of undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff, and the larger community. Documenting local and regional history and culture, politics, literature and selected art is our top priority.

The history and development of San Jose State University and the history of Santa Clara Valley, is a story of diversity and change. Economic, political, social, cultural, and ethnic forces shaped and transformed this region from a rural environment to the technology mecca of the Silicon Valley. We believe by collecting community histories, we can broaden the historical record, and offer new resources for future scholarship. New histories will reveal the diversity of community life in this region; Whether our ancestors were immigrants from Europe, Asia or other continents or they were California Indians or Hispanics, they all made significant contributions to the history and development of Santa Clara Valley.

Your donations of personal historical records or materials or funds to assist in the acquisition and processing of important historical documents will help us to reach our goal. Please contact Danelle Moon, Director Special Collections & Archives, Danelle.Moon@sjsu.edu, phone: (408) 808-2061, for more information.
