San José Library Commission Invites Suggestions for Naming of New Edenvale Area Library

Submissions will be discussed at May 9 Commission meeting

April 11, 2007 -

Residents are invited to offer their suggestions for a suitable name for the new 22,000 sq. ft. library currently under construction at the southeast corner of Monterey Road and E. Branham Lane. There are two avenues for submitting a suggestion:

• Print a copy of the online nomination form.
Complete the form and submit it to the City Clerk’s Office (200 E. Santa Clara St.) before May 9.

• Dial (408) 535-8450 before May 9 to call in a suggestion.

The Library Commission will review and discuss all submissions at the May 9 commission meeting in order to formulate their recommendation to the City Council. The meeting, scheduled at Santa Teresa Branch Library (290 International Circle), begins at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

The new Edenvale neighborhood library is one of six new branch libraries that will have been added to the San José Public Library System by the year 2010, as a result of the Branch Development Bond Measure passed by voters in November 2000. The program also authorized reconstruction and expansion of 14 existing branch libraries. At this juncture, nine projects have been completed and another eight are in some phase of design or construction. The Edenvale library is expected to open late fall, 2007.
