From the North (via Highway 101): Take Highway 101 South, to the Alum Rock/Santa Clara Street Exit. Take Santa Clara west (to right) to 24th Street (second stop light). Turn left on 24th Street. Follow 24th Street south for one block (San Fernando). Turn right on San Fernando. Take San Fernando one block to 23rd. Turn right on 23rd and proceed to the end of the block. East San José Carnegie Library is at the end of the block on the right side.

From the North (via Highway 680/280): Southbound 680 becomes northbound 280 at the 101 interchange. There is no direct turnoff traveling north on 280. Take the Highway 101 north exit and then take the Santa Clara exit. Turn left at the light at the top of the exit. Follow Santa Clara to south 23rd St. And turn left. The library is in the left, and the entrance and the parking lot are on S. 23rd St.

From the West (Highway 880 and Highway 280 Interchange): Take Highway 280 West, to the McLaughlin Exit (immediately before Highway 101 Interchange). Turn left on McLaughlin (North). Proceed on McLaughlin past San Antonio (McLaughlin is now 24th street) to San Fernando. Turn left on San Fernando. Take San Fernando one block to 23rd. Turn right on 23rd and proceed to the end of the block. East San José Carnegie Library is at the end of the block on the right side.

There is a parking lot on South. 23rd St. and additional free street parking on 23rd and neighboring streets.

Bus Routes

Direct bus service to the library is limited to the buses that run on Santa Clara St. Route 22 stops at 24th and Santa Clara, one block from the library. Route 522 (Rapid) stops at 21st and Santa Clara.

Route 64 stops at Julian and 24th St. about 3 (long) blocks north of the library.

From South San José take bus Route 72 to E. San Antonio. Get off at 24th and E. San Antonio. Walk to S. 23rd St. and turn right. The library is about two (long) blocks away.
