Graphic Novel Contest - 2010


Graphic Novel Making Contest Check out a copy of the Graphic Novel Making Contest Winning Entries 2010.

San José Public Library's 2010 Graphic Making Contest engaged 77 entrants; 33 children, 25 teens and 19 adults. Congratulations to everyone who entered. Our judges were impressed by the variety and creativity expressed through your works. Read the comments of our judges.

Prizes in the form of Hijinx gift cards were awarded to first, second and third place in each age category. All participants attending the May 8 reception at King Library chose prizes from among fun items donated by SLG Publishing, Tokyopop, & TRY Japan Culture Group.

A limited edition of the winning entries will be printed and made available through the library's online catalog.


2010 Prize Winners

  • Children's Contest (ages 12 and under)
    1st prize - $50 gift certificate: The Shadows by Cassiopeia Jenkins-Schell
    2nd prize - $25 gift certificate: Mutt by Jacob Fox Lucero
    3rd prize -$15 gift certificate: The Adventures of Twister by Yush Raje

  • Teen Contest (ages 13-17)
    1st prize - $100 gift certificate: Stanley of the Forest by Rebecca Gill
    2nd prize - $75 gift certificate: Bitter Sweet by Grace Ma
    3rd prize -$50 gift certificate: The Bet by Nguyen Nguyen

  • Adult Contest (ages 18 and above)
    1st prize - $125 gift certificate: A Fine Day Out by Brian Root
    2nd prize - $100 gift certificate: Curious Conroy Cougar Comix by David Mejia
    3rd prize -$75 gift certificate: Mama's Garden by Robert E. Hill
