San Jose Public Library presents - Battle of the Bands 2010

In honor of Teen Tech Week, it's time to "Learn, Create & Share @ your library" with San Jose Public Library's third annual Battle of the Bands competition for teens ages 12-18. First, second, and third place winners will choose from among the following community-sponsored prizes:

• 15 hours of studio recording time
• Custom-graphic band T-shirts
• Professionally-designed band webpage

This contest has 2 parts. The bands will first battle it out here on our official contest site in an online voting competition. The top 5 finalists will be invited to play at the final concert event for a chance to win prizes. Check out the rules for complete contest information. How to Enter

To enter, submit an entry email to sjplbattleofthebands@gmail.com no later than February 20th, which must include a link to the band/performer's music online, as well as contact information. Please read the rules for complete information about eligibility and how to enter.

Recording Sessions

Don't have your music online yet? Don't worry! We'll be hosting seven recording sessions to help you get started. Bring your gear, and we'll record you playing and help you upload your video online. Please call the branch in advance to register. Sessions will be held at the following branches.

The Contestants

Stay tuned! Music lovers will be able to come to this site February 24 - March 6 to listen to all of the qualifying contestants and then vote for their favorites. The five bands/performers that receive the most votes will be contacted and announced on March 9.

Live Concert Event (March 20)

The final concert event will be held at Almaden Branch Library and Community Center at 2:00 PM on March 20. The 5 finalists will have up to 20 minutes to perform their set in front of an audience and a judging panel of local music experts. All are invited to attend this exciting concert event, which will showcase local talented youth, and the judges will determine the grand prize winner of San Jose Public Library's Battle of the Bands!
